a very merry solstice to you! (& a heretical gnostic gospel verse)
Happy Solstice! There's a line from the gnostic, heretical Gospel of Thomas (which is not part of the canonical Bible organized by the Council of Nicea) where queer witch Jesus says this:
"If you bring forth what is within you, what you bring forth will save you. If you do not bring forth what is within you, what you do not bring forth will destroy you."
I love this line and I think of it all the time.
To me it speaks of both the fundamental magical requirement to make the unconscious, conscious...
... and also, on a more basic level, of the need to put forth our creativity into the world in order to thrive.
How many brilliant people do you know whose lives are filled with sadness and squalor because they could never find a way to get over their resentments of the money system...
... and bring their creativity into the world in an uplifting and rewarding way?
I know dozens. It breaks my heart, but these are friends who never wanted to take in what I had to say about the work of bringing forth.
This is part of why I spend so much time saying it here on these interwebs - because I'm looking for the people who are willing to listen and raise themselves up.
Because here's the thing: putting yourself out in public, as a leader or as a magical business person or both - is very uncomfortable.
Dealing in hard dirty cash monies - whether fundraising for a nonprofit or selling stuff in a business is very uncomfortable, especially for us sensitive and spiritual folk.
And yet - that discomfort can hurt so good, if we just let it.
But if we shy away from that discomfort and never do the work of confronting our resistance to these efforts of "bringing forth" - well, it's possible to stay in an infantile state of avoidance for our whole lives...
... which doesn't benefit anyone, spiritually or materially.
So here's my question today:
